Gender, Sexuality & Anti-Colonialism in Palestine
November 27 @ 11:30 am - 3:30 pm
This interactive workshop will critique intersectionality and examine gender and sexuality in relation to Palestine. By focusing on the roles of Israeli settler colonialism and Western imperialism in gender and sexual oppression, as well as looking at frameworks for resistance and liberation, this workshop goes beyond the pink-washing framework to deepen our solidarity.
This workshop is suitable for people who are involved in queer and feminist movements and would like to learn more about how feminist/queer struggles relate to the context of Palestine, and/or for people who are involved in the Palestinian liberation movement and would like to learn more about how queer and feminist liberation is central to it.
The workshop will be jointly facilitated by Sarona from Makan and Ghiwa from Kohl. It has been organised with the Queer Hope and Futures Project (led by Aytak, Qais, and Akanksha) and the Centre for Feminist Research.
This workshop is being held at Goldsmiths, University of London. The venue will be in the main building (Richard Hoggart Building – RHB) on Goldsmiths campus in New Cross, SE London – https://maps.app.goo.gl/RfbADo3zfoAVAeBo6 The exact room will be emailed before the workshop to confirmed participants.
